We want to send a huge shout-out to two incredible athletes from our Level 7 competitive gymnastics team as they head to the State competition this weekend! Carlie Anders, 14, and Lindyn Lair, 10, both from Quincy, are gearing up for the Illinois State Gymnastics Championship, which will take place March 28-30 in Dekalb, Illinois.
These dedicated athletes earned an impressive All-Around score of at least 34.50 during their regular season competitions, qualifying them for this prestigious event. Since December, Carlie and Lindyn have competed in up to five invitational competitions across Illinois and Missouri. Their commitment to excellence doesn’t stop there – they balance gymnastics with schoolwork, social activities, and family time, training 4-5 times a week year-round.
We couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and determination Carlie and Lindyn have shown. Their dedication is a true testament to their passion for the sport and their drive to succeed. The State meet is also a qualifying event for Regionals, which will be held April 25-27 in Tallmadge, Ohio. We’re excited to see how they perform and are hopeful that their hard work will lead them to even more opportunities.
A big thank you to our amazing coaching staff – Jacob Huff, Hope Huff, Sarah Shumake, and Rylee Mellon – for their tireless support in helping our gymnasts reach their full potential.
We’ll be sure to share the results from the State competition once they’re available, so be on the lookout for updates! If you’re interested in learning more, please read Gem City’s gymnastics program here.
