Happy Presidents Day! And, YES, we are open and ready for all your cartwheel needs.
Decatur, Illinois – Gem City’s gymnastics team rocked it on February 8 & 9 at the Heart of Illinois meet. The Level 3 team took first place!
There were many impressive individual performances. Ava Winking (level 3) took first with a 38.05 in her level and age group. Haley Woodyard (level 3) placed second with a 37.275 in her level and age group. Molly Broughton (level 3) also posted high scores with a 36.9.
The Level 6 team also found success with a third place finish. This was especially impressive considering only three Level 6 athletes competed, meaning every score on each event counted toward the total team score. This leaves little room for anything other than solid performances.
We hope everyone is enjoying the full week of school! Below is Gem City’s February newsletter. Don’t forget about hour Valentine’s Day Pizza Fun Night!

St. Charles, MO. – The Gem City Rubies All Star cheer squad made great strides at the St. Louis Classic meet when they finished in the small senior level 2 category. They were only .3 of a point short of first place. There were six teams in their division.
Their performance was especially impressive considering last minute routine changes that had to be made the day before the competition due to a change in the number of squad members. This meant the girls had to alter formations, change stunting groups, and adjust counts for timing. Cheerleading is about moving parts so if one cog changes the whole machinery must be adjusted.
Gem City will be closed on Thursday, January 23.
We close whenever Quincy Public School cancels classes due to inclement weather.
