As the school year comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate seven Gem City seniors who have made a lasting impact on our gym community through a team or as a staff member: Lila Winking, Addison Bakalyar, McKenzee Mellon, Irelyn Plenge, Caydence Ancelet, Faith Alford, and Mikey Goodwin.
Both of Gem City’s All-Star Cheer Squads are preparing to take the national stage! After months of dedication and determination, these talented athletes are ready to showcase their skills.
Our tumbling team traveled to Rock Island, Illinois, on March 29 for the last regular season meet of the year, and they closed things out in style. The day’s standout story was our Advanced girls division earning the high point award behind a collectively dominant performance across all age groups.
The gym will be closed for Easter from Friday, April 3 – Sunday, April 5, 2026. Classes start again on Monday, April 6.
Our Level 7 gymnasts competed at the Level 7 State Championship in Bourbonnais, Illinois on March 20–21, 2026. Three of our athletes took on one of the toughest stages in the Illinois competitive season, and all three earned the right to advance to the USAG Region 5 Championships on April 17–19 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Eight of our Level 3 gymnasts traveled to Waukegan, Illinois on March 14–15 to compete in the Level 3 2026 Illinois State Championship. Qualifying for State at Level 3 is a serious accomplishment on its own — the road there demands consistency and focus across an entire season. Our athletes rose to the challenge, and two came home with top-ten finishes.
On March 15, our tumbling team traveled to Pana, IL, for the Mat Madness competition. The meet featured a high point award at every level (given to the athlete with the highest score across all ages combined) and our team came home with hardware at three different levels.
The gym is closed for practices and classes, on Monday, March 16, 2025 due to weather. Please stay safe and warm today!
Congrats to Stevie O’Brien, our latest winner of the Good Grades Quarterly Drawing! Stevie is 6 years old and takes a Level 1 Gymnastics class!
Hi everyone, Coach Katie here with our March Athlete of the Month spotlight. Each month we highlight a Gem City athlete whose dedication, mindset, and work ethic stand out on and off the floor. This month, we’re recognizing someone who has grown up right here in this gym and has given back to it in just about every way possible. Our Athlete of the Month is Lila Winking.
On March 6–7, our Level 4 and Level 5 gymnasts traveled to Waukegan, Illinois, to compete at the 2026 USAG Level 4 & 5 State Championships. The State Championships bring together the top qualifiers from across Illinois, and earning a spot on this stage is a reflection of the work our athletes put in throughout the entire season.
The St. Louis Classic, held February 20–21, marked the final gymnastics invitational of the season — and our athletes finished strong. It was an exciting weekend filled with top finishes, additional State qualifiers, and a big team award to close out invitationals on a high note.
Three of our Level 7 gymnasts will travele to Bourbonnais, Illinois, March 20–23 to compete at the Level 7 Illinois State Gymnastics Championship. It’s a well-earned stage for a trio that has been competing across Illinois and Missouri since December.
Eight of our Level 3 gymnasts have qualified for the USAG State meet in Waukegan, Illinois, on March 13–15, 2026. Each athlete earned an all-around score of at least 34.00 during the regular season to punch their ticket. It’s a milestone that reflects months of steady, determined work.
